The Fir Blocks and Epoxy Vase is a one-of-a-kind handcrafted vessel made from fir wood blocks suspended in green and blue epoxy resin. Turned and shaped on the lathe, the form introduces depth and motion into a space as fragments of fir appear locked within a translucent field of color.

Process & Materials

Fir blocks are cut, arranged, and cast in epoxy resin before being turned on the lathe. As the form is refined, the materials reveal themselves — end grain and face grain visible across each block, the wood suspended within the resin like a cross-section of a forest floor. The result is an abstract, mosaic-like surface that is entirely unrepeatable.

Form & Presence

The vase stands approximately 6 inches tall and 4 inches wide, with a tapered cylindrical form and a natural fir rim at the top. The warm honey tones of the fir contrast with the cool green and blue of the resin, creating a surface that shifts in different light. No two views of this piece are the same.

Use & Fit

This vase holds dried stems, driftwood, or simply stands on its own as a sculptural object. It settles naturally onto shelves, desks, windowsills, and side tables. Spaces with natural light allow the resin to shift throughout the day, creating subtle movement as the room interacts with the form.
