Process & Materials

This candle holder is cast in resin, embedding natural pinecones at varied depths so their structure is revealed from multiple angles. As the resin cures, it captures the layered geometry of each cone, preserving scale, shadow, and edge. The surface is shaped and refined to a smooth cylindrical form, allowing the green field to read as a continuous canopy around the inclusions.

The zebra wood base is cut, turned, and sanded to highlight its distinct linear grain. Its bold striping contrasts with the fluid resin above, grounding the piece visually and physically.
